Welcome to the Battle for the 2012 Karaka Million!

The one million dollar Karaka Million for two-year-olds is New Zealand Bloodstock's incentive race for graduates of its National Yearling Sales Series and New Zealand's richest two-year-old event.

Hosted at the Auckland Racing Club's Ellerslie racecourse at a Twilight Meeting on the eve of the Karaka Premier Sale, the race is run over 1200m and carries Restricted Listed status. Every horse entered in the Karaka Million is also eligible for the $100,000 Karaka Mile in their three-year-old season.

2012 $100,000 Karaka 3YO Mile

Reflecting the growing strength of New Zealand Bloodstock's sales incentive races, the Karaka 3YO Mile has this season been upgraded to Restricted Listed status by New Zealand's Graded Stakes Committee. For more information on the upgrade, click here.

To be run at the Karaka Million Twilight Meeting at Ellerslie on 29 January, the $100,000 Karaka 3YO Mile is open to graduates of the 2010 National Yearling Sales Series, who paid the Karaka Million entry fee in accordance with the terms and conditions.

The Karaka 3YO Mile order of entry will be determined by NZTR domestic ratings at time of withdrawal - those with the lowest ratings will be eliminated first until the safety limit is reached. In the event of horses being on equal ratings these horses will be separated by the Handicapper based on each of the horse's last three starts.

• Eligible three-year-olds must be nominated for the Karaka 3YO Mile as per normal NZTR procedure with the relevant dates and times to be advertised in the NZTR Monthly Magazine.
