New Zealand Bloodstock's Southern Bonus Race
A race carrying a $50,000 Bonus to the first qualified graduate past the post, the inaugural running of New Zealand Bloodstock's Southern Bonus Race will be held on 14 November 2012 at Riccarton Park, Christchurch.
Carrying a $50,000 Bonus, the race will be an open three-year-old event over 1400 metres with qualified Southern Bonus Race graduates holding preference in field selection over non-qualified horses. The $50,000 Bonus will be won by the first qualified graduate past the post.
Of the $50,000 Bonus, $40,000 shall be paid to the owners of the horse on raceday, with $5,000 paid to the trainer and $5,000 to the person(s) who owned the Bonus-winning horse at the time of Sale.

Southern Bonus Preludes
Announced in July 2012, all Southern Bonus Race eligible horses will also be able to contest the New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Southern Bonus Preludes.
To be held at Riccarton Park on Friday 14 September (1200m) and Sunday 6 October (1400m), each New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Southern Bonus Prelude will offer a $5,000 bonus - on top of any stakes winnings - to any Southern Bonus Race eligible horse that can win the Prelude. 2013 Southern Bonus Series Nominations
The 2012 South Island Sale will again be offering the Southern Bonus Race to all two-year-olds in the Sale. The 2013 Southern Bonus Race will carry a $40,000 bonus and the Series will also offer the two Southern Bonus Preludes.
Nominations for the 2013 Southern Bonus Series are $250 + GST per horse and close 10 September 2012.
