Mortality
Covers your horse for death or the need to be euthanased on humane grounds from any accident, sickness or disease. Cost depends on the age of the horse insured and the category eg. foal, racehorse, broodmare etc.
Prospective Foal
Covers the pregnancy of your mare (including the death of the mare). A claim is paid in the event the mare is not in foal or, if the foal does not survive to the expiry of the policy, which is usually to 30 days after the birth.
Transit
Whether you are importing or exporting your horse, NZB can offer insurance to cover the initial loading and transit until safely delivered at the final destination. Transit insurance can also cover a horse to 30 days after arrival.
Stallion Infertility
In addition to a mortality policy for an additional premium, cover can be placed to insure for the possibility of a stallion becoming totally and permanently infertile or incapable of serving mares as a result of an accident, sickness or disease (A.S.D). First Season or Congenital infertility is also available for horses going to stud for their first season.
Stallion Loss of Income
A stallion's potential income can be insured for a particular season against any A.S.D. preventing the stallion completing his breeding season.
Unsoundness of Wind
It is possible to insure a foal for failure of scope at New Zealand Bloodstock's yearling sale for an additional premium. The foal must be insured for Unsoundness of Wind within 90 days of birth.
