With 115 stakes wins in the past six seasons, New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale is the most successful Sale of its kind in Australasia.

Boasting double the number of the stakes winners of any comparable Sale in the past three seasons, the Ready to Run Sale continues to deliver quality. Further to this,  the past three seasons, Ready to Run Sale graduates have won nine Group 1 races, with no other auction house in Australasia having sold any Group 1 graduates from a juvenile sale in that time.

This year’s catalogue has drawn 396 two-year-olds prepared by New Zealand’s best horse educators. A wide range of 115 sires from New Zealand and Australia are represented.

Catalogue highlights include:

  • 48 siblings to stakes winners including siblings to Group 1 winners Alinghi, Bel Sprinter, Serenade Rose, Guiseppina, Tully Thunder & Titch.
  • The progeny of 40 stakes winners including the offspring of Group 1 winners Aqua d’Amore, Dane Ripper, Miss Raggedy Ann & The Party Stand.
  • 29 horses nominated for the Karaka Million, 10 fillies nominated for the Pearl Series, 76 horses that are BOBS eligible, 14 Super VOBIS nominated horses, 9 horses that are QTIS eligible and 7 horses nominated for the Golden Slipper.

There have been a number of star racetrack performers last season with 16 stakes races won by graduates of the Ready to Run Sale.

Flying the flag for the Ready to Run Sale were Group 1 winners Albany Reunion (Fastnet Rock), Atlante (Fastnet Rock), Glorious Days (Hussonet) and Nashville (NZ) (Darci Brahma).

Overcoming a tough run to win the Group 1 Easter Handicap was the lightly raced Albany Reunion. Having to sit three-wide without cover throughout the Group 1 mile event, the son of Fastnet Rock was still able claim victory against a classy field. The Nigel Tiley trained galloper has Group 1 Australian targets on his agenda this spring.

Another horse with Group 1 targets in Australia this spring is Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Atlante. Another son of Fastnet Rock, Atlante won his Group 1 race less than a year after he was sold at the Ready to Run Sale. He has been transferred to Team Hawkes in Australia and is already a stakes winner at Moonee Valley this season.

Internationally, Glorious Days shot to victory in the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile, becoming the fourth consecutive Karaka graduate to win the race. After finishing second the year before, Glorious Days produced an outstanding effort to win the race fresh up in December of 2013.

Claiming back-to-back victories in the Group 1 Haunui Farm Classic was bargain $40,000 purchase Nashville. The son of Darci Brahma can lay claim to beating some of New Zealand’s best gallopers such as Ocean Park (NZ) (Thorn Park), Veyron (NZ) (Thorn Park), Final Touch (NZ) (Kashani), Xanadu (NZ) (Elusive City) and Viadana (NZ) (Towkay).

Other stakes winners last season include Savvy Nature (NZ) (Savabeel), Military Move (NZ) (Volksraad), Elusive Catch (NZ) (Elusive City), Midnite Promise (NZ) (Librettist), Super Ninetyseven Show a Heart) and El Padrino (NZ) (Mr Nancho).

Every horse entered in the Ready to Run Sale has the opportunity to Breeze Up with the last 200m of their work filmed and timed. Breeze-Ups are set to be conducted at Te Rapa Racecourse on 20 & 21 October. Breeze Ups will be online on Tuesday 28 October and DVD copies available upon request.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale will be held on 19 & 20 November 2014 with selling starting at 11am each day.
