Every horse catalogued in the Ready to Run Sale is offered the opportunity to gallop on the course proper at Te Rapa with the final 200m of their work timed and filmed. Conditions were near perfect at Te Rapa with two-year-olds galloping on a Dead 5 track into a slight headwind.

Lot 299 (inside) ran the fatest time of the day, working with Lot 360.

The day saw a large portion of runners go under 11 seconds with an even spread of times.

Recording the fastest heat of the day was Lot 299 who clocked a time of 10.33 seconds. The Savabeel colt from Mana Park worked with Lot 360, a Testa Rossa colt out of Group 1 winner Foxwood, also from Mana Park, who recorded 10.38 seconds for his 200m.

Savabeel has the largest draft in the Ready to Run Sale and had a number of good breezers. Lot 201 by Savabeel out of stakes winning mare Tonic from Diamond Lodge also recorded a handy time of 10.45 seconds.

Last season’s Champion Sire of New Zealand O’Reilly also has a strong presence at the Sale with 12 progeny catalogued. A colt by the Waikato Stud sire out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Cinder Bella, Lot 172 from Kilmore Farm, ran a time of 10.95 seconds.

One breeze of particular interest was Lot 367, the half-brother to Group 1 winner and the weekend’s Group 2 Caulfield Sprint winner Bel Sprinter. To be offered by Lyndhurst Farm, the colt by Hussonet stopped the clock at 10.81 seconds.

Also among the impressive Breeze Ups was a colt by Commands catalogued at Lot 149 from Prima Park. The eye-catching brown colt breezed up in a time of 10.45 seconds working with stablemate Lot 291, a Mastercraftsman colt.

The day ran successfully with New Zealand Bloodstock’s Sales Manager Danny Rolston pleased with proceedings.

“The day ran smoothly with no hiccups which is a credit to the vendors,” commented Rolston. “The Dead 5 track has ensured an even spread of times and horses have been able to show their action on a good surface. The quality of horses presented was of a high level across the board.”
