A half-sister by Shocking to Perfect Start is entered in the 2015 Karaka Premier Sale at Lot 263 from Seaton Park.

This was her seventh win from 36 starts, and her second consecutive win at Manawatu with Sam Spratt riding at both meetings for trainer Wayne Hillis.

“It was a great performance and great she found another gear going up the straight,” commented Wayne Hillis. “Sam (Spratt) was wrapped with the run. The horse used to be a slow beginner but Sam gets her out which makes a difference getting her a bit handier.”

The five-year-old mare was the first away, settling mid-field as Dubai Belle (NZ) (E Dubai) led the field. Perfect Start did not hold back finishing the race strongly in the last 100m to pass front-runner Dubai Belle to claim victory by one-and-a-quarter lengths. Dubai Belle held on for second place with Duquesa (NZ) (Encosta de Lago) finishing third.

“She had a break after returning from Australia and has been working really well since and we will look to run her next in the City of Auckland Cup,” commented Hillis.

Perfect Start was offered at the Select Sale by Seaton Park and has now earned a total of $196,513.

The daughter of Perfectly Ready was bred by G & Mrs S Bluett, G G Syndicate and J F Marks and is out of winning mare Artemesia (Peintre Celebre).

She is a half-sister to Art Beat (Captain Rio) who won the Group 3 Winter Cup at Riccarton Park and is a half-sister to Smartly (Fast ‘n’ Famous) who has placed in multiple stakes races.
