NZB’s South Island Sale Today

New Zealand Bloodstock’s South Island Sale commences today at 11am with 108 lots to go under the hammer at Christchurch’s Canterbury Agricultural Park.

This is the Sales second year in its new placement in the calendar of events, with it traditionally being a sale of two-year-olds and mixed bloodstock held in August.

The Sale is now predominantly a yearling sale as it forms part of the National Yearling Sales Series: The South Island Session.

With the added benefit of being part of the NYSS, any yearling purchased or passed in today is eligible to enter the lucrative Karaka Million Series.

Yearlings entered in the Karaka Million Series can compete for the $1m Karaka Million for two-year-olds in 2016, the $250,000 Karaka 3YO Mile in 2017, and the $100,000 Karaka Stayers Cup in 2018 and each year thereafter.

There is a main catalogue of 98 yearlings to be sold today, one two-year-old and five broodmares. The supplementary catalogue consists of one yearling, which is to be sold at the end of the yearling session, and one broodmare, to be sold at the end of the broodmare session.
