Super Start to Ready to Run Sale

20 November 2007

New Zealand Bloodstock's 2007 Ready to Run Sale of 2YOsgot off to a strong start today at Karaka with the half-way results showing even further growth on last year's record Sale.

After 203 of the 404 lots catalogued, the average is NZ$58,508, up $10,000 (21%) from the same point in the Sale last year, and up 17% from last year's record final average of $50,085. The median is currently tracking at $40,000, the same as last year's record which was up33% on the previous year.

The highlight came in the first hour when the Zabeel colt from Carnegie mare Carnegie Hikari (Lot 31), a half-sister to G.1 Queensland Oaks winner Vouvray, was offered by Janine Dunlop's Phoenix Park. The colt was knocked down to John White Bloodstock for NZ$310,000making it the fourth highest lotever sold at this Sale.

Phoenix Park, the leading vendor of the day with eight horses sold for an average of NZ$153,125, have another eight horses scheduled to go through the ring tomorrow.

With results that reflectthe broad buying bench of Australian, Hong Kong, Singaporean, Malaysian, Korean and local buyers in attendance, it was prominentNew Zealandbuyer David Ellis who topped the buyers list for the day.His four purchases for NZ$750,000included a top price of NZ$250,000 paid for the Encosta de Lago filly out of Danehill mare Crystalina at Lot 63.

Also prominent in the day's results were Willie Leung's Magus Equine, Mick Dittman, Jerry Sung, Dean Wiles and the Korean Racing Association (Busan) which has purchased 14two-year-olds so far.

The 2007 Ready to Run Salecontinues tomorrow at Karaka withthe remaining 200 lots set to start selling at 11am. The Salewill also be streamed live on New Zealand Bloodstock's website.
