Karaka 2012 Preview Show Tonight on TVN

Australian viewers can get their first glimpse of a selection of yearlings heading to New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sales Series tonight with TVN broadcasting its 'Karaka 2012 Yearling Sale Preview' at 8pm Australian time.

TVN presenter Caroline Searcy will offer a valuable insight into the New Zealand thoroughbred breeding industry and some of its major personalities with the Karaka Preview focussing on nine of New Zealand's leading studs: Cambridge, Waikato, Pencarrow, The Oaks, Little Avondale, Rich Hill, Windsor Park, Trelawney and Curraghmore.

Some of the stars of the Sales Series look set to come from these studs, with their entries including:

  • Lot 284, Windsor Park Stud's three-quarter brother in blood to New Zealand bred eight-time international Group 1 winner So You Think (High Chaparral) by High Chaparral.
  • Lot 353, Cambridge Stud's outstanding three-quarter brother by Fastnet Rock to the Group 1 winner and current Group 1 performer King's Rose (NZ) (Redoute's Choice).
  • Lot 216, Waikato Stud's Pins colt from the dual Group 1 winning mare Glamour Puss (Tale of the Cat).

The 2012 Karaka catalogues are as strong as ever, with 1444 young horses set for sale across three Sale sessions: Premier Sale (30 & 31 January), Select Sale (1-3 February) & Festival Sale (5 February).

Karaka 2012 features a truly international line-up of stallions with the progeny of 147 sires from around the world, including a host of hot kiwi sire talent such as the incomparable Zabeel, proven stars O'Reilly, Pins, Pentire and Stravinsky, and exciting young sires Thorn Park, Savabeel, Darci Brahma and more.

This line up is complimented by a full spectrum of Australia's leading sires including Danehill Dancer, Encosta de Lago, Exceed and Excel, Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral, Lonhro, More Than Ready, Redoute's Choice, Starcraft, Street Cry, Testa Rossa and many more.

TVN's Karaka 2012 Yearling Sale Preview will premier tonight at 8pm (AEDT) and will be aired over the next two weeks at the following times:
