Celebrity Dream (NZ) Completes Black-Type Double

11 December 2017

Exciting mare Celebrity Dream (NZ) (Thorn Park) completed a black-type double for the Perth carnival when she took out Saturday’s A$100,000 Listed Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m) at Ascot.

An emphatic winner of the Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) two weeks earlier, the five-year-old stepped up in trip and delivered a repeat result. After a cosy run from an inside draw, Celebrity Dream and jockey William Pike burst through a gap that opened in the home straight and outfinished her rivals to win by three-quarters of a length.

Owned by prominent Perth owner Bob Peters and trained by Adam Durrant, Celebrity Dream has now had 14 starts for seven wins, four placings and A$300,750 in prize-money.

Bred by Garry Cranny, Frantic Bloodstock Ltd and Haunui Bloodstock Ltd, Celebrity Dream is a daughter of the Red Ransom mare Valpolicella (NZ), winner of three races including the Group 3 Manawatu Classic and Listed Champagne Stakes.

Valpolicella is the dam of four foals to race, three of them winners and three of them stakes winners. Vavasour (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice) won the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies’ Classic, Group 3 Counties Cup and Group 3 Waikato Cup, while Vilanova (NZ) (Commands) won the Group 2 Autumn Classic, Group 3 Grand Prix, Listed Tattersalls Club Cup and Listed Star Way Stakes.

Celebrity Dream was offered at the 2014 Premier Sale by Haunui Farm, where she was bought by John Chalmers Bloodstock for $260,000.
