$400,000 Premier Sale purchase Tulip (Pierro) is set for some bigger assignments after an easy win in Friday night’s A$150,000 Group 3 Carrazzo Consulting Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

The filly proved her class as a two-year-old, winning the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) and finishing third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

On Friday night she went right back to that best form, quickening stylishly in the straight to score a comfortable one-length win.

“She’s always oozed a fair of class, so it was nice to see her do that tonight,” jockey Kerrin McEvoy said. “The team have left a little bit in her, so there’s some nice improvement to come.”

Tulip is trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig for owners Coolmore, Cobra, Mr M J Kirwan and Emmaroo Bloodstock. She has now won three of her 12 starts and A$941,625 in prizemoney – more than double her purchase price.

Tulip is now likely to travel to Sydney for Group 1 targets during the autumn carnival.
