Select Sale graduate Best of Luck (NZ) (Thorn Park) produced a sparkling front-running performance in Macau on Sunday to win the M$550,000 Listed Sand Specialist Stakes (1510m).

The gelding, formerly known as Zabbadak, led all the way and crossed the finish line three and a half lengths clear. His time of 1:32.7 was just a fraction of a second outside the course record of 1:32.6.

He was ridden by Brazilian jockey Ruan Maia for trainer K S Wong and owners Mak Pui Lam & Wong Hiu Tung.

Purchased for $60,000 at the 2012 Select Sale, Best of Luck has won five of his 18 starts in Macau for earnings of M$3.67 million – the equivalent of NZ$630,000, which is more than 10 times his purchase price.
