Classy Karaka graduate Celebrity Dream (NZ) (Thorn Park) scored the fifth black-type win of her career with a dominant performance in Saturday’s A$150,000 Group 3 Mrs Mac’s La Trice Classic (1800m) at Ascot in Perth.

Trained by Adam Durrant and ridden by William Pike, the six-year-old trailed the leaders in fourth or fifth position for most of the fillies and mares’ feature.

Pike peeled her out wide in the straight and Celebrity Dream changed gears, sprinting to the front and winning by two lengths.

Raced by Peters Investments Ltd, Celebrity Dream has now had 22 starts for 10 wins, six placings and A$545,750 in prize-money – more than double her $260,000 purchase price at the 2014 Premier Sale at Karaka.

Valpolicella is the dam of six foals to race, five of them winners and three of them Group winners. Vavasour (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice) won the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies’ Classic, Group 3 Counties Cup and Group 3 Waikato Cup, while Vilanova (NZ) (Commands) won the Group 2 Autumn Classic, Group 3 Grand Prix, Listed Tattersalls Club Cup and Listed Star Way Stakes.

“Celebrity Dream is Valpolicella’s third Group winner after Vilanova and Vavasour. A special mare who has an Iffraaj colt at foot and in foal to Not a Single Doubt,” tweeted Mark Chitty of Haunui Farm.

In partnership with Garry Cranny and Frantic Bloodstock Ltd, Haunui owns Valpolicella and bred Celebrity Dream.
