Stakes Success for Sacred Capital (NZ)

5 February 2019

Ready to Run Sale graduate Sacred Capital (NZ) (O’Reilly) scored his first stakes win with a stylish performance in Sunday’s M$600,000 Listed Spring Trophy (1500m) in Macau.

A winner in Australia and fourth in the Listed Poseidon Stakes (1400m) at Flemington under the name Rellson, the four-year-old gelding has won two of his three starts since arriving in Macau.

Ridden by W.L. Ho for trainer Joe Lau, Sacred Capital went forward from his wide gate and quickly took the lead. He dominated the race from there, kicking away in the straight to win by a length and a half in a time of 1:26.4.

Bought for $580,000 at the 2016 Ready to Run Sale, Sacred Capital earned A$27,840 in Australia and has so far amassed M$543,400 (NZ$97,500) in Macau.

Sacred Capital comes from a quality family, being out of a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner and accomplished sire Alamosa (NZ) (O’Reilly).

Another close relative to Sacred Capital, a yearling half-sister by Sacred Falls, was bought for $140,000 by Kiwi syndicators Go Racing during Book 1 of Karaka 2019 last week.
