Horses sold through the Karaka sale ring in recent years are now providing timely pedigree updates to the 61 yearlings catalogued in New Zealand Bloodstock's South Island Sale.

Dual Group One winner Madison County (NZ) (Pins) crossed the Tasman earlier this year and has since placed second in the Group One Australian Derby and the Group Two Tulloch Stakes.

Lot 22, a filly by the same sire in Pins, is a three-quarter sister to star three-year-old Madison County.

Group Two Wellington Guineas winner Emily Margaret (NZ) (Pins) was victorious in the first two legs of the NZB Southern Filly of the Year Series landing her the prestigious title for the 2018-19 season.

Two recent stakes performances have boosted the page of Lot 5 since the catalogue went to print, with the Zacinto colt out of a half-sister to Emily Margaret.

Princess Kereru (NZ) (Pins) has stepped out this season to place at Group One level and win twice at stakes level, including her last start in the Listed NZB Finance Sprint.

Lot 20, a filly by Ghibellines, and Lot 1, a filly by Giant’s Steps, have both received pedigree updates being from the same family as Princess Kereru.

Secret Allure (NZ) (Zacinto) claimed legs in both the Filly of the Year and Southern Filly of the Year Series this season when triumphing in the Group Three Desert Gold Stakes and most recently the Listed NZB Airfreight Stakes.

She is closely related to Lot 23, a colt by Makfi out of stakes winner and proven producer Ombre Rose (NZ) (O’Reilly).

Southern-bred Ranger (NZ) (Ghibellines) made a promising start to his two-year-old campaign placing third behind Karaka Million 2YO winner Probabeel (NZ) (Savabeel) on debut and finishing runner-up in the Listed Champagne Stakes at his last start.

White Robe Lodge, the vendor of Ranger, will present a colt by Darci Brahma at Lot 53 who is from this same family.

Winning O’Reilly colt Cavallo Veloce (NZ) picked up his third placing at stakes level two weekends ago in the Listed NZB Finance Sprint. He also finished a strong fourth in the Group Two Wellington Guineas.

Lot 28, a filly by Jimmy Choux, is from the same family as Cavallo Veloce which also features Group Two winner (Sir) Charles Road (Myboycharlie).

Outside of these stakes performed Karaka graduates, several other horses have provided pedigree updates since the catalogue went to print.

Supera (NZ) (Savabeel) added black-type to her page when winning a Group Three feature in January and continued that form when finishing runner-up at her last start in the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes. Lot 52, a filly by Highly Recommended, is from this same family.

International horses Blowout (Dansili) and Primo Scene (Deep Impact) recently added Group Three placings to their record, boosting the pedigree of their relative at Lot 16, a filly by Zacinto.

Two-year-old sprinter Biscara (Rubick) finished second in her first two starts at stakes level and broke her maiden last month. Lot 57, a filly by Per Incanto and half-sister to Group Three performer Coulee (NZ) (Gallant Guru), and Lot 32, a colt by Ghibellines, are both closely related to Biscara.
