Buyers Secure Outstanding Value at South Island Sale
Friday, Apr 20, 2018At the close of New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2018 South Island Sale the key trend that prevailed throughout the day was demand for new blood – with the top three leading sires by average, with three or more sold, featuring Zacinto, Proisir and Ghibellines respectively.
Yet it was Ravelston Stud’s Per Incanto colt (Lot 109) that provided the highlight of the day’s selling. Out of a winning O’Reilly mare The Dewdrop, he comes from the famous “The” family which the Stud have shaped over many years. Garry Carvell of Hiwi Bloodstock outlaid $100,000, the most paid for a yearling at the Sale since 2012, to acquire the athletic colt.

Monday, Apr 16, 2018Recent Group 1-performing Kiwi-breds have provided a timely boost to several pedigree pages, along with other outstanding performances, for the upcoming New Zealand Bloodstock South Island Sale held at the Riding for the Disabled Building at the Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch on 20 April.
Star filly Savvy Coup (NZ) (Savabeel) fought out until the end in the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks to win by a length and a quarter. Trained by Michael and Matthew Pitman, she has had a strong three-year-old campaign with 13 starts for five wins including the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes.
