27th Stakes Winner for High Chaparral

The Chris Gangemi trained The Underworld made it stakes winner number 27 for his sire High Chaparral in the Listed WATC Belmont Guineas (1600m) in Western Australia on Saturday.

A winner of two of his five race day starts for A$66,000 in stakes, The Underworld (NZ) (High Chaparral x Rune) is bred on the same cross as VRC Derby winner Monaco Consul who is also out of a Star Way mare.

High Chaparral averaged $249,000 for 31 yearlings sold at the 2011 Karaka Premier Sale and has now sired eight individual stakes winners in the Southern Hemisphere, headlined by his dual Cox Plate winning son So You Think (NZ).

The Underworld was bred by Miss K L & R A Schick and was purchased by Bahan Bloodstock of Hong Kong from Windsor Park Stud at the 2009 Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds for $50,000.
