Karaka - The Home of NZB
New Zealand Bloodstock is New Zealand's premier bloodstock auction house, and one of the leading thoroughbred auction houses in the world.
In June 2018, New Zealand Bloodstock also moved into the standardbred market in a development that will see the standardbred industry benefit from the company’s leading auction sales and ancillary services.
Situated in Karaka, just 30 minutes south of Auckland City, New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka Sales Centre is world-renowned as both an impressive and practical auction facility.
At the heart of New Zealand Bloodstock's activities is the annual National Yearling Sales Series. In January each year the cream of New Zealand's yearling crop goes under the hammer with around 1,400 young thoroughbreds auctioned through the Karaka sale ring.
In addition to the National Yearling Sales Series, New Zealand Bloodstock conducts a number of thoroughbred auctions each year, spearheaded by the immensley successful Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds, which is the fastest growing thoroughbred market in New Zealand. Weanlings, broodmares, tried and untried racehorses and stallions to suit every need and budget feature throughout the year.
New Zealand Bloodstock’s division NZB Standardbred also conducts standardbred auctions throughout the year at both the Christchurch and Karaka locations.
New Zealand Bloodstock auctions attract buyers from Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Macau, South Africa, Philippines, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, United Arab Emirates and beyond, and have yielded some of the greatest racehorses to grace the racetracks of Australasia and Asia.
The Karaka Sales Centre is now also available for events. The Karaka Pavilion offers one of the most unique venues in the country. From its extensive gardens, stables & informal indoor/outdoor spaces, to a contemporary formal lounge & dining area, or the 600-seat auction ring, there is a space suitable for any event or budget.
