Current Roles Available

Gavelhouse.com Sales & Marketing Assistant

A subsidiary New Zealand Bloodstock, gavelhouse.com hosts fortnightly online auctions for both Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds. Now seven years old, the site is an integral part of the trading landscape in New Zealand and holds the world record for a thoroughbred sold online for $4.1 million!

Due to natural career progression within the wider NZB family, a full-time position as gavelhouse.com’s Sales and Marketing Assistant has become available, reporting directly to the gavelhouse.com General Manager.

This fast-paced role would suit someone passionate about, and with a sound knowledge of, horse racing and breeding.

If you like seeing people succeed in the industry, this will be a rewarding role as you assist vendors and buyers to win on the track and in our virtual sale ring.

Key attributes

  • Meticulous time management and organisational skills to meet time-critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work well within a small team and autonomously.
  • A sharp attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to relate to and communicate clearly with different types of people.

The majority of the position will be spent assisting vendors with listings and helping promote sales via print, online and social media channels, facilitating buyer registrations and familiarising them with the bidding process. Depending on the skillset of the successful applicant, some banking and accounting tasks could also be included.

Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Xero experience is ideal but training will be provided for the right applicant that may be lacking experience in any of these areas.

This is an office-based position at either New Zealand Bloodstock’s Karaka headquarters or based in a smaller office in Cambridge. This position also requires some evening work while auctions are closing.
