Caroline Searcy's Karaka 2023 Preview will air on Sky Thoroughbred Central and Trackside.

Caroline Searcy’s popular and informative preview of New Zealand Bloodstock’s Karaka National Yearling Sales Series returns this Tuesday 17 January on Australia’s Sky Thoroughbred Central. Steeped in quality, this year’s feature covers yearlings by leading Australian and New Zealand sires from Australasia’s best families. 

The program features progeny heading for the Karaka 2023 sale ring in NZB’s Book 1 catalogue. Many of New Zealand’s leading thoroughbred nurseries are featured, including Cambridge Stud, Curraghmore, Hallmark Stud, Haunui Farm, The Oaks, Pencarrow, Wentwood Grange, Windsor Park Stud and Woburn Farm. The progeny bred and sold by these farms have captured some of Australia and New Zealand’s biggest races in the past 12 months.

Horses covered in the one-hour preview include an assortment of colts and fillies by proven, emerging and first season New Zealand, sires such as Savabeel, Almanzor, Proisir, Super Seth, Ocean Park, U S Navy Flag, Darci Brahma, Turn Me Loose and Vanbrugh. Exciting Australian stallions also feature in the Karaka 2023 Preview, including Extreme Choice, Zoustar, So You Think, Written Tycoon, from his season at Arrowfield Stud, Exceed And Excel, Dundeel, Lonhro, Magna Grecia, Microphone, Justify, Toronado, Dubious, Pierro and Russian Revolution.

The Preview airs at 7.30pm AEDST Live on Sky Thoroughbred Central in Australia (Foxtel Ch 528), with replays continuing up to the commencement of Karaka 2023. Trackside in New Zealand will air its first showing on Wednesday January 18 at 10am (NZT).

Book 1 of Karaka 2023 will run from 29 to 31 January, followed by Book 2 from 1 to 3 February. Selling will start at 11am each day.
