Crossyourheart Dominates in Final Classique

5 February 2007

The final running of New Zealand Bloodstock's $500,000 2YO Classique (1200m) was taken out with a commanding performance by the Gerald Shand owned Crossyourheart (Show a Heart x Red Century).

Trained by Richard Collett and Shane Hapeta at Pukekohe Park, the 2006 Karaka Premier Sale filly was guided by Leith Innes to set a race record while keeping her perfect record of four from four in tact.

Collett secured the daughter of current leading Australian two-year-old sire, Show a Heart, for NZ$210,000 from Bruce and Maureen Harvey's Ascot Farm draft.

New Zealand's richest two-year-old race is to be superseded by the Karaka Million in 2008 for which all graduates of the 2007 National Yearling Sales Series will be eligible to enter. Yearlings must be paid up within 30 days of the sales Series.

The Carnival Yearling Sale on 9 March is the last chance to secure yearlings for the Karaka Million. Those purchased at the Carnival Sale are also eligible for the $100,000 Carnival Sale Bonus Race. To be held at Ellerslie during Auckland Cup Week in 2008, the first Carnival Sale graduate home in the race will receive a $100,000 bonus.
