Darci Brahma Primed For Brisbane

8 May 2005

New Zealand Bloodstock graduate Darci Brahma (Danehill x Grand Echezeaux) continued his excellent form when winning the Hinuera Lodge Juvenile 2YO (1200m) at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Jockey Lisa Cropp gave the Danehill entire a quiet run, pulling back after the start to settle on the rail. As the pair entered the straight she angled the colt into the clear and cruised past the competition to win comfortably by a length over Sandspirit (Sandtrap x Deceo) with Spare The Detail (Sandtrap x Full Detail) running into third.

It is planned that the "Darci", who was purchased by David Ellis and is trained by Mark Walker, will travel to the Queensland Winter Carnival to contest the Group 1 Queensland Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) and the Group 1 TJ Smith 2YO (1600m) in June.

The colt was purchased from the premier session of the 2004 National Yearling Sales Series for $1.1million from the draft of Peter and Philip Vela's Pencarrow Stud.
