Fantastic Fillip for RTR Sale

12 October 2008

The unbeaten three-year-old clair Fantastic made it three from three on Saturday with a win in the opening race on the Caulfield Guineas Day card, the $70,000 Harrolds Fashion Plate (1200m).

Pinhooked as yearling at last year's Karaka Premier Sale by Leo Molloy for the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale, the imposing grey was bought at that sale by Peter Moody for $310,000. He's now trained by Phillip Stokes at Morphetville for Thomas Li.

Bred by the Baker family of Hallmark Stud together with Trevor Hurley, clair Fantastic (Spectatorial x Miss Jessie Jay, Spectacularphantom) is closely related to top class sprinter Gee I Jane.

clair Fantastic's half sister by Pins was purchased as a yearling earlier this year from Karaka for $340,000, and is raced by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan. Named Katie Lee, she shows promise with a trial winner on 23 September for the training partnership of Graeme Rogerson, Scott Lucock and Royden Bergerson.

New Zealand Bloodstock's 2008 Ready to Run Sale is rapidly approaching, with 424 two-year-olds catalaogued for sale at Karaka on 18 & 19 November. Breeze ups will take place at Te Rapa on 20 & 21 October.
