Feature Treble for Good Fight

27 November 2023

Trained by Simon Dunderdale, Ready to Run Sale graduate Good Fight (Super One) continued his red-hot run of form with another feature victory in Sunday’s RM100,000 Charity Cup (1400m) at Perak.

The winner of the Supreme Challenge Cup (1400m) and the Coronation Cup (1600m) in his two previous appearances, Good Fight made it three in a row on Sunday and has now had 27 starts for 10 wins, three placings and more than RM375,000 in stakes. He was offered by Ohukia Lodge at the 2019 Ready to Run Sale at Karaka, where he failed to meet his $250,000 reserve.

Sunday’s win was another dominant performance by Good Fight, who took up a handy position in fourth spot and well within striking range. The six-year-old moved up into third approaching the home turn and was presented on the outside of the leaders at the top of the straight, and there was little doubt about the result from there. Good Fight changed gears and burst clear, drawing away to win with ease.

Good Fight is part of a long list of star black-type performers to come out of New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale in recent years, and that proven track record created unprecedented demand at the 2023 edition of the sale last week. At the end of two action-packed days of selling, the aggregate soared to a record $35.1m, with an average price of $156,031 and no fewer than 12 lots selling for $500,000 or more.
