Half-Brother to Suavito at NZB Ready to Run Sale

28 October 2014

A deserved first stakes victory by Suavito (NZ) (Thorn Park) in the Group 3 A$150,000 Eliza Park International Stakes (1600m) on Saturday has boosted the profile of her half-brother at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale next month.

A half-brother by Bachelor Duke to Suavito from Mana Park is catalogued at Lot 117 in New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale on 19 & 20 November.

The family will be hoping to receive a bigger boost before the Sale next month with trainer Nigel Blackiston aiming at further black-type success.

“We are heading towards the Matriarch Stakes on the last day of the Flemington Carnival,” commented Blackiston.

After hard luck stories at her last two starts, Suavito stayed out of trouble and proved superior to her rivals with a 1.2 length victory.

Rider Damien Oliver positioned Suavito mid-field and off the rail over the 1600m journey. At the 600m the daughter of Thorn Park moved into the race and strode to the lead in the straight, winning decisively from Precious Gem (Econsul) with stablemate and fellow kiwi You’re So Good (NZ) (Savabeel) finishing third.

“She is a lovely mare,” stated Blackiston. “She is tough, she is nicely balanced, she is not overly tall but has good presence about her and she has a great will to win.

“She could have won three of her last four starts with any luck but that is just the way it turned out.”

Saturday’s win was Suavito’s second victory in her career which has yielded $308,620 in prizemoney.

Bred in New Zealand by IDL Racing Ltd, Suavito is out of unraced mare Queen Cha Cha (High Chaparral), a half-sister to multiple stakes placegetter Pinot Grigio - Veni Vedi Vici (H.K.) (O'Reilly). Her third dam is Group 1 Irish One Thousand Guineas winner Nicer (Pennine Walk).
