Happee Owner Wins HK Class 1 Feature

16 January 2006

Last season's Levin Classic winner, Happee Owner (Towkay x Make Up) - formerly called Ambitious Owner while racing in New Zealand - took out the feature event at Sha Tin on Saturday.

The son of Towkay collected his second victory since relocating to Hong Kong, leading all the way to score in the Class 1 Central Avenue Handicap (1600m).

Happee Owner was well ridden by Felix Coetzee for trainer Tony Cruz, defeating Lightning Star and Being Famous.  Bred by Herrick Perry, the son of Towkay was purchased as a weanling by Perry's son Bruce, on behalf of long time client, Johnson Lam.

A full brother to Happee Owner is to be offered at Lot 433 of the 2006 Premier Yearling Sale by Little Avondale Stud.

New Zealand Bloodstock graduate, Being Famous (Gold Brose x Chester Square) continued his meteoric rise when third in the Class 1 event. Initially sold by Paramount Farm at the 2001 National Weanling Sale for NZ$12,000 to John Corcoran, Being Famous was resold at the Select Yearling Sale in 2002 for NZ$32,500 to Robbie Hewetson.

The son of Gold Brose was one of the most improved horses in Hong Kong last season under the care of Almond Lee.
