Honor Babe Flies Flag For Sunday'S Central Districts Sale

19 May 2003

Honor Babe's spectacular victory in the recent Group 1 Sydney Cup has provided a very timely and significant boost for the Central Districts Bloodstock Sale.

The fact that a horse the calibre of Honor Babe graced the sale ring at Wanganui, (even though buyers did not spot her potential at the time), is proof that a relatively low key sale such as this can still provide some absolute gems for smart buyers.

Honor Babe (Honor Grades x Repremand) was offered at the 2000 Central District Sale as a yearling and was passed in for under $2,000. Honor Babe has gone on to win earnings of AUD$619,360 and NZ$73,475.

Also from the 2000 Central Districts Sale was stakes placed Goldrim (Centro x Gold Classic) who ran second in the Listed, South Island Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes. Goldrim was purchased by Mr Les Sperring of Wanganui from the racehorse section of the sale for $1,700.

2001 Central Districts Sale graduate Rutland Lass (Hadaad x She's Good) has also shown promise on the track, having won two races and being placed twice as a two year old this season. Rutland Lass was purchased as a weanling for $500.00 by Wanganui resident Mr Peter Morgan.

This Sunday, 25th May, 80 horses will be offered at the 2003 Central Districts Bloodstock Sale at the Wanganui Racecourse. This year's sale has a lineup of weanlings, yearlings, broodmares, two year olds, untried horses and racehorses on offer.
