25 June 2007

Karaka graduatescame to the foreinternationally over the weekend by claiming the featureevents in Macau, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Crown's Master (Last Tycoon x Ranghiroah) held off iron horse Rock'n'Roll Kid (Justice Prevails) by a neck in the Listed M$800,000 Macau Directors Cup (1500m) on Saturday. This was the five-year-old's eleventh win from 18 starts, his earnings now over M$4,600,000 in prize money. Bred by Mileshan Nominees Pty Ltd, Crown's Master was purchased by Russell Cameron for NZ$70,000 at the 2003 Karaka Ready to Run Sale from Dean Hawthorn's Anzac Lodge.

Last year's Macau Horse of the Year, Rock'n'Roll Kid was a NZ$17,000 purchase by Vern Trillo from Esker Lodge at the 2001 Karaka Festival Sale.

Consistent filly J'Adane (Danehill x Affirmed Lane) provided Russell Cameron with further cause to celebrate. Trained in partnership with Gareth Macrae, the three-year-old greyran third behind Nova Star and Fashions Afield in the Group 1 A$501,500 Queensland Breeders & Tattersall's Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday. At her first start in Queensland, she cleared maiden ranks having already been Group 2 placed in Melbourne in the Spring, and since then has scored four placings from four starts, all at Group level in Queensland. Her six placings and one win from 13 starts haveyielded earnings of nearly A$250,000 for her owners Brendan & Jo Lindsay, who purchased her from the filly's breeders Peter and Philip Vela's Pencarrow Studfor NZ$400,000 at the 2005 Karaka Premier Sale.

Also at Eagle farm, Mirkola Lass (Prized x Gun Lady) scored a creditable third behind Ice Chariot and Rampant Lionin the Group 3 A$203,000 Carlton Draught Tattersall's Cup (2200m). The four-year-old mare was bred by Robert Bennett and was a bargain NZ$800 purchase by Phillip Chisholm, who still shares in the ownership, at the 2004 Karaka Spring Sale. Ruakaka horseman Kenny Rae trains the mare

Time Supreme was a NZ$12,500 purchase by Chris Hausman from his breeder, equine veterinarian John O'Flaherty, under the Oughterard Farm banner at the 2003 Select Sale. He was later purchased by bloodstock agent Michael Stedman for NZ$105,000 at the Karaka Ready to Run Sale later that year from Mission Lodge.
