King's Rose Wins the NZB Filly of the Year Series

Even before the last two legs of the prestigious New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series, the Jason Bridgman trained King's Rose had the Series wrapped up and in the bag.

A filly with loads of ability, King's Rose (Redoute's Choice x Nureyev's Girl) had amassed an unassailable lead in the Series, notching up 34 points, a total only exceeded by Katie Lee and Princess Coup in recent years.

Wins by King's Rose in Series include the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas (1600m), the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes (1400m), the Group 2 New Zealand Bloodstock Royal Stakes (2000m) and the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (2000m).

Her win is the fourth NZB Filly of the Year title for Te Akau Stud in the last six years, with the Stud claiming victory with Insouciant (07/08), Princess Coup (06/07) and Shikoba (05/06).

King's Rose's name will be added to the illustrious list of fillies to have claimed the Series Including Justa Tad, Vapour Trail, Savannah Success, Tycoon Lil, Solveig and many more.

Midnight Oil's (Keeper x Gilded Light) Group 1 New Zealand Oaks win has seen her take second place in the Series on 18 points, with the Group 2 Eight Carat Classic (2000m) winner Smoulder (Traditionally x Flying Firebird) taking third with 11.5 points.
