Knight in Command in Singapore

Kiwi horse Knight’s Command (NZ) (Pins) raced to an impressive victory in Singapore’s Sgp-3 S$150,000 Woodlands Classic Stakes (2000m) at Kranji last night.

The son of Pins has now recorded two stakes victories in Singapore among his four wins in the country after beginning his racing career in New Zealand with trainer Stephen McKee. Following three wins from five starts, Knight’s Command was transferred to Singapore-based Kiwi trainer Bruce Marsh’s stable.

In a small field of six, Knight’s Command jumped from barrier 4 for jockey Manoel Nunes and settled near the tail of the field. The Pins colt steadily made up ground sitting on the rail as the race progressed to find third position at the 900m.

Turning for home, Knight’s Command came out three-wide to challenge Emperor’s Banquet (Holy Roman Emperor) to sprint ahead for a victory by two-and-a-half lengths. Emperor’s Banquet followed through to finish in second place and In Fact (Lode) came in for third.

“He’s a very genuine horse, well-bred. Where is he going from here will be up to the handicapper,” commented Marsh. “It’s good that he’s won a second Group race for the owner.

“I left it to Nunes to decide how to ride him depending on how the pace would pan out. He gave him a 10 out of 10 ride.”

Knight’s Command has now earned over S$340,000 in prizemoney for owner TITS and LFS Stable.

IDL Racing purchased Knight’s Command for $250,000 at the 2009 Karaka Premier Sale from Hallmark Stud.

Bred by Jomara Bloodstock Ltd, Knight’s Command is by Pins, out of Group 1 winner Emerald Dream (Danehill), the dam of dual Listed winner Zabene (Zabeel).

Pins has 29 yearlings catalogued in the Karaka Premier Sale commencing today.
