New Zealand Bloodstock 2YO Fillies' Stakes

22 April 2005

The Rogerson & Autridge Stable is well represented in Avondale's Anzac Day feature, the New Zealand Bloodstock 2YO Fillies' Stakes (1200m). The Tuhikaramea stable have three horses vying for the prize in the 15 horse field.

Vegas Showgirl (Al Akbar x Vegas Magic) is a likely chance for the stable following an impressive Group 1 fourth behind Kindacross in the Ford Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes last weekend. The filly has already proved herself in stakes company, finishing second to Dr Green in the WRC Wellesley Stakes last year.

Cullcha (Cullen x Muchacha), another of the Rogerson runners, also boasts a stakes placing from last year. The filly ran second to Kindacross in the Listed Waikato RC Fairview Ford Stakes and although she has yet to win a race her form is worthy of respect. Cullcha's half sister will be offered at the Westbury Stud Mixed Bloodstock Sale on Friday 6 May. The mare, Dance The Chacha (Danasinga), is in foal to Desert Fox.

Dawnie Dancer (Fasliyev x Abbotswood) has her second start in New Zealand for the stable after running third at Paeroa earlier this month. The filly had three starts in Sydney, where she picked up two placings behind the likes of New Zealand Bloodstock Classique place-getter Dower.

From the Lance O'Sullivan stable Crepe De Chine (Pins x Gio) looks a worthy runner despite a disappointing run in the Ford Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes. Prior to last weeks race the filly has won her first two starts including a stakes debut in the Listed Counties RC Cullen Stakes.

Also representing O'Sullivan is Smartway (Pins x Vain Kiwi), who ran fourth behind Group 1 star Mi Jubilee in the Group 2 Duke of Bedford Matamata Breeders' Stakes.

Missy Elliot (Magic of Sydney x Fiorino) also comes into Monday's race with Duke of Bedford form after running third in the event.

The race also features four debutantes who all have impressive trials form behind them. Ratcatcha (Danasinga x Steady As A Cat), Altesino (More Than Ready x Maraness) and Accidentallyinlove (Cape Cross x Heartache) all won recent trials and Xpedite (Lake Coniston x Cecily Brett) ran second in her catch-weight at Paeroa last month.

The Listed New Zealand Bloodstock 2YO Fillies' Stakes is scheduled to jump at 4.15pm on Monday and is a TBS Level A race. For more information about the 2YO Fillies' Stakes contact New Zealand Bloodstock. www.nzb.co.nz Ph:09 298 0055
