NZB Graduates Claim Feature Races

22 November 2004

NZB graduates St Reims and The Duke claimed two of the weekend's feature races this weekend.

Counties Racing Club's Eagle Technology Counties Cup day took place at Ellerslie over the weekend as the club works on improving the track at home course, Pukekohe.

The change of venue and the firm ground suited New Zealand Bloodstock graduate St Reims (Zabeel x L'Quiz) who looked comfortable throughout the Group 2 feature event and won with ease. The five year old horse was purchased by Rob McAnulty at the 2001 Premier Yearling Sale for $1,000,000. Now syndicated, and trained by Chris McNab, the aim is to start St Reims in the $350,000 Auckland Cup on New Years Day.

In Hong Kong, New Zealand Bloodstock graduate, The Duke (Danehill x Mer Du Sud), also cruised to victory in one of the feature events of the day, the Cathay Pacific International Mile Trial. The Duke was also sold at the 2001 Premier Yearling Sale by Trelawney Stud for $200,000.
