NZB Ready to Run Sale Graduate Making Mark in Korea

1 July 2008

Karaka Ready to Run Sale graduate Saerounbisul (Danske x Miss Golly by Casual Lies) recently made a big impression on Korean racing, taking top honours in the Korean Group 3 SROA President Cup (2000m).

The three-year-old was ridden by Tae-jong Park, one of the best performing jockeys in Korea with almost 1400 wins to his credit. The combination produced an impressive sustained sprint home to run down the three break-away leaders in the race, winning by a commanding one-and-a-quarter length.

Trained by Young-chul Ji, Saerounbisul came off the back of a last start win in early May to record his sixth win from 17 starts for his owner, Su-nam Jung.

Saerounbisul is by the regally-bred Group 1 winning sire Danske (Danehill x Our Tristalight by Sir Tristram) who has also produced Group 1 Whakanui International Stakes winner Snazzy. An outstanding type, as a yearling he fetched the highest price at the 1997 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale and now stands alongside My Halo and Coats Choice at Berkley Stud in Christchurch.

Inglewood-based Karen Southall bred Saerounbisul from the Casual Lies mare, Miss Golly. She has produced two foals to race, both being winners and is in foal to Volksraad this season. New Zealand Bloodstock acted as agent when purchasing the gelding for Korea from the 2006 Sir James Lodge consignment for NZ$28,000.

Proving to be a great source of good horses, New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale can lay claim to the likes of Group 1 winners Perlin, Magic Cape, Marju Snip, Able One and Eskimo Queen Rockdale, Pasta Post and Mr Baritone this season. This year the Sale will be held on 18 & 19 November with the Breeze Ups on 20 & 21 October at Te Rapa. Entries for the Sale are due on 25 August.
