Pinhooking Lucrative from South Island Sale

5 August 2010

Astute investors have been duly rewarded over the years with some great results pin-hooking unbroken two-year-olds from the South Island Sale to New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale in November.

Last year's successful pin-hooks included a $1,400 Spartacus colt at the South Island Sale selling just over three months later for $45,000 to Singapore-based trainer Michael Freedman. A Towkay colt boosted in value from $37,500 to $67,500, while Venture Thoroughbreds sold a Rusty Spur for $52,000 after an initial outlay of $21,000.

The year earlier provided more similar results plus some even bigger wins including a $30,000 St Petersburg subsequently selling for $100,000 and Kilgravin Lodge producing a $26,000 Catcher in the Rye to fetch $87,500 through their draft at Karaka.

This year 202 lots have been entered with the sale set to commence at 10am tomorrow at the Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch. Click here for Appointment of Agent and Buyer Registration forms.

New Zealand Bloodstock agents Danny Rolston (+64 21 473 209) and Clint Donovan (+64 21 800 372) are on hand for inspections at the sale grounds this afternoon. Give either of them a call if you are interested in a particular lot.
