28 November 2008

The catalogue for New Zealand Bloodstock's Premier Yearling Sale is now available for viewing online.

Premier Yearling Sale

This year's Sale includes 503 yearlings representing the cream of the Australasian crop with pedigree's that span the globe's most successful sire and dam lines.

Testament to the quality of this year's catalogue, the 2009 Premier Sale will offer 33 half or full siblings to Group 1 winners, 39% more than the 2008 version of the Sale. The notable quality increases also illustrate the continuous improvement of the Sale Series due to the phenomenal success of its graduates. Such is the vendor's confidence in the Sale, both Cambridge Stud and the Schick family's Windsor Park Stud have opted to sell exclusively at Karaka.

Eight Group 1 winners emerged from the Premier Session last season with the highlights including Efficient's victory in the Emirates Melbourne Cup and the BMW Cox Plate going to El Segundo. Other Group 1 winners included Zarita, Alamosa, Boundless, Il Quello Veloce, Mr. Baritone, and Mission Critical. Already this season Premier graduates have started with a bang, notching up three victories at the highest level already, two coming in Australia at 1200m (Swick) and 1600m (Alamosa) with the other courtesy of Black Mamba in the John C Mabee Handicap (1800m) in Del Mar, USA. She is the sixth Australasian horse ever to win a Grade 1 in the USA, and the fifth New Zealander.
