Quality Amidst Expert Vendors at NZB Ready to Run Sale

The 2015 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale will feature 59 expert vendors and their quality drafts of two-year-olds.

NZB’s Ready to Run Sale has established itself as the leading Sale of its kind in Australasia through proven racetrack results. The past six seasons have seen 107 stakes wins by graduates of the Sale, with a further seven stakes races won this season including two Group 1 victories to complement the already 12 Group 1 wins since the start of the 2012/13 racing season.

The success of the Sale is in large credit to vendors, with the kiwi consignors’ specialisation in the preparation of juveniles a key factor to their early education.

Returning to the top of the leading vendor list at last year’s edition of the Sale was Lyndhurst Farm after its six-year reign ended in 2013. Graduates from Lyndhurst Farm include Albany Reunion (Fastnet Rock), Atlante (Fastnet Rock) and Glorious Days (Hussonet), all Group 1 winners in recent seasons.

Lyndhurst Farm will present a draft of 16 two-year-olds this year including:

  • Lot 26, a half-brother by Encosta de Lago to Sgp-1 winner Better Life (Smarty Jones)
  • Lot 38, a colt by Foxwedge out of Group 1 winning Rostova (Testa Rossa)
  • Lot 218, a colt by So You Think out of Group 3 winner Danaupair Starlet (Delago Brom)

Last year’s top lot of the Sale was consigned with Jeremy Whale’s Diamond Lodge, a Savabeel colt purchased by Bryce Heys for $460,000. Racing under the name Deadly Shadow (NZ), he was a stakes performer at Flemington during the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Diamond Lodge will offer 22 horses at the Sale including:

  • Lot 149, a colt by Rip Van Winkle out of stakes winning dam Anne Carina (Danske)
  • Lot 152, a half-sister by Cape Blanco to Group 2 winner Floria (Savabeel) out of stakes placegetter Aria (Centaine)
  • Lot 256, a colt by Savabeel out of Group 2 winner Fire Song (Senor Pete)

The vendor of Group 1 winning Sale graduate Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor), Regal Farm topped the Sale in 2013, the same year Mongolian Khan was sold to Mr Lang Lin’s China Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group for $220,000.

This year Regal Farm’s draft of 10 horses are by a range of Australian and New Zealand sires, including:

  • Lot 168, a colt by Champion Sire O’Reilly and a half-brother to stakes performer Al Qurhah (Stravinsky)
  • Lot 258, a half-brother by More Than Ready to Group 2 winner Running Tall (Stratum)
  • Lot 374, a half-brother by So You Think to Group 2 winner Biscayne Bay (Stravinsky)

George and Maryanne Simon of Mana Park are the breeders of Group 1 winning NZB Ready to Run Sale graduate Turn Me Loose (NZ) (Iffraaj). The son of Iffraaj was sold by Mana Park at the 2013 Sale.

Mana Park will be presenting 11 two-year-olds at this year’s Sale including:

  • Lot 45, a half-brother by O’Reilly to stakes winner Stella Di Paco (Paco Boy)
  • Lot 233, a colt by Jimmy Choux out of stakes winning dam Dominatrix (Marauding) and is a half-brother to Group 3 placegetter Sadist (Tale of the Cat)
  • Lot 241, a colt by Foxwedge out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Hill of Grace (Zabeel)

Providing the largest draft for another year is specialised two-year-old preparers Kilgravin Lodge, presenting a draft of 33 two-year-olds. Graduates of Kilgravin Lodge include multiple Group 1 winner Sangster (NZ) (Savabeel).

Horses among Kilgravin Lodge’s draft include:

  • Lot 17, a colt by Pins out of dual stakes winner Post Thyme (Postponed)
  • Lot 183, a colt by Darci Brahma out of stakes performed American mare Bright Abyss (Royal Academy)
  • Lot 301, a half-sister by Mastercraftsman to Group 1 winner Irish Fling (Darci Brahma)
