Quinella for Montjeu in Derby

7 June 2005

The Vodafone Derby produced a fantastic result for those that have been able to invest in Montjeu progeny after the unbeaten, Motivator (Montjeu x Out West) and Walk in the Park (Montjeu x Classic Park) took top honors in the Group 1 event. Although the success may be bittersweet for New Zealand breeders as they are again reminded of what they will be missing out on with the loss of Montjeu's services this season.

Back in New Zealand, the first listed race to be run over the long weekend was convincingly won by Betcha Wood (Woodbury Lad x Gintaine), after streaking ahead of the field to get a huge early lead which eventually proved to be too big for the rest of the field to make up.
