Redoute's Choice Half-Sister to Sonic Quest at Karaka Premier Sale

15 January 2007

The win by Sonic Quest (Quest for Fame x Lodore Magic) in the Listed Barton Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday is a timely fillip for his half-sister, by boom sire Redoute's Choice, who is to be offered at the Karaka Premier Sale in two weeks time.

The filly will be offered for sale as Lot 246 by Bruce and Maureen Harvey's Ascot Farm. Bruce Harvey said the filly is a standout, "We fell in love with her as soon as we saw her. She is very athletic and balanced."

The filly is one of eight yearlings by Redoute's Choice at Karaka, and one of three in the Ascot Farm draft. Also to be offered by Ascot Farm are yearlings by exciting first season sires Lonhro and Exceed and Excel, plus proven sires Encosta de Lago, Zabeel, Commands and Pins.

Sonic Quest's dam, Lodore Magic (Kingdom Bay), was Joint Head of the NZ 1995-96 2YO Free Handicap. Highlights of her career included a win in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders Stakes (1200m) and second in the Group 2 STC Riesling Slipper Trial (1200m) as a two-year-old. She is also the dam of two other winners.

Sonic Quest, like his yearling half-sister, was bred by Jynnbrook Pty Ltd. The four-year-old gelding is now trained by Lee Freedman and was ridden by Luke Nolen. He has amassed over AU$150,000 in prize money and has won four out of seven starts, finishing further back than third on just one occasion.

The National Yearling Sales Series at Karaka will commence on Monday 29 January. Click here for up-to-date pedigree updates for the Premier Sale, Select Sale and Festival Sale.
