Rock ‘n’ Gold Takes Kensington Stakes

Ready to Run Sale graduate Rock ‘n’ Gold (Rock Of Gibraltar) collected the seventh and most significant win of his career when he took out Saturday’s A$120,000 Listed Kensington Stakes (1000m) at Flemington.

Trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra and ridden by Chris Symons, the seven-year-old gelding produced a smart turn of foot to come from midfield and score by a long head.

“He always runs well fresh,” Zahra said. “He’s been a fantastic horse for the stable.”

Ellerton Zahra Racing paid $55,000 to buy Rock ‘N’ Gold from the Diamond Lodge draft at the 2012 Ready to Run Sale.

Following Saturday’s win, Rock ‘N’ Gold has earned A$404,900 in his 40-start career for owners M J Bracchi, J Kovacevic, Mrs A Kempster, S D Kempster, L T Connolly, A J Kearney, Mrs J M Kearney, A C Law, M J Leyden, M D Lohan, P J Thompson, R McCluskey, G A Peel, R L Banks, M M Hulme, Hubik Racing (Mgr: S Hubik) and K W Franklin.
