The five-year-old mare has produced three wins with a further 12 places from her 25 starts in her racing career. Making her racing debut in New Zealand with trainer Shaune Ritchie, Saturn Rock recorded a first and two seconds before relocating to Australia.

Now based in Tony Crane's Queensland stable, after spending time in Melbourne with Robert Smerdon and in Sydney with Grahame Begg, Saturn Rock gained her first stakes win after six previous placings in stakes company.

Saturn Rock began the sprint race from a wide barrier (10) for rider Larry Cassidy. She finished powerfully, winning by three-quarters-of-a-length ahead of Breakfast In Bed (Hussonet) and Little Brown Horse (Waterford Road) who finished in second and third position.

“I am really glad to see her win because it will add value to her as a broodmare later,” commented Crane. “That was my first black-type win but I have run plenty of placings.”

This win has seen the daughter of Fastnet Rock take her total earnings to A$226,861 for owners R Davis & Mrs S Yip.

The five-year-old mare was purchased at the 2011 Premier Sale for $150,000 by Craig Ritchie from Trelawney Stud.

Bred by Deborah Ho, Saturn Rock is out of multiple stakes performer Satin Robes (Ne Coupez Pas), winner of the Listed Kensington Stakes. Saturn Rock is a full-sister to Regatta Parade (Fastnet Rock), a winner at 1400m in Australia this season.
