Another black-type prize was added to the remarkable story of low-priced Karaka graduate Sheezallmine (NZ) (Super Easy) at Wingatui on Saturday.

Bought for just $1,000 at the 2017 Festival Sale, Sheezallmine collected the second stakes win of her career in the $50,000 Listed Alleviate Administration Hazlett Stakes (1200m). She has now had 17 starts for six wins, three placings and $168,255 in stakes for owners John and Maree Miller.

A trip to the South Island took Sheezallmine to a new level in the spring of 2019, winning the Group Three Stewards’ Stakes (1200m) and placing in the Listed Pegasus Stakes (1000m). A year later, after a series of solid efforts in strong company in the North Island, a return south has worked wonders again.

Ridden by Chris Johnson for Matamata trainer Daniel Miller, the five-year-old settled close to the pace before quickening stylishly in the straight to win by a length and a quarter.

“It was nice to get a win like that,” Miller told NZ Racing Desk. “She had been going good races without a whole lot of luck.

“She came down with my foreman Mason Stephens, and he told me she had travelled and settled in well, so we were quite confident before the race.

“She never used to be that good a traveller, but I think the trip away to Riccarton last year really helped settle her down and she was ready to perform today.
“When I put the saddle on, she was carrying on a bit and calling out to the other horses, so I thought she was ready to go.”
