Shenzhou Steeds Continues Impressive Record

4 July 2011

The Mike Moroney trained Shenzhou Steeds has continued his impressive track record with his first black-type win in the Listed Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m).

Now the winner of four of his eight starts, Shenzhou Steeds (Ishiguru x Sun City) beat a good field of 17 horses by one-and-a-quarter lengths, with the handy three-year-old Under The Eiffel running into second place.

It is the second three-year-old stakes winner for Moroney in the past few weeks with the NZB graduate Born to Rock winning the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic at Eagle Farm, and then running a brave third to Yosei and Beaded in the Group 1 Winter Stakes.

Shenzhou Steeds is the sixth individual stakes winner for his sire Ishiguru whose progeny have earned over $11 million world-wide. To view Ishiguru's progeny in the NZB South Island Sale of Two-Year-Olds & Mixed Bloodstock, click here.

Shenzhou Steeds was bred by Chequers NZ and was offered by Chequers Stud at the 2008 Karaka Select Sale.
