New Zealand Bloodstock's South Island Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Mixed Bloodstock is now online and presents a line up of 151 entries, with a predominant focus on New Zealand based sires.

The South Island Sale has witnessed its graduates continue to win feature races with top New Zealand performances seeing Inferno (Yamanin Vital) take out the Group 3 Canterbury Gold Cup, Blood Brotha (Danzighill) win the Group 3 CJC Metropolitan Handicap, Draconic (Umatilla) take the Listed Timaru Stakes and the talented three-year-old Milo (Coats Choice) win the Listed Otago and Gore Guineas.

Flying the international flag is the South Island Sale graduate St Peter's Gift (St. Petersburg). The winner of six of his fifteen starts, the four-year-old has been successful twice at stakes level this season. The winner of the Macau Derby Trial, he then ran a luckless fourth in the Derby to NZ bred Imabayboy, and a good second in the Macau Gold Cup before beating a good field in the Macau Director's Cup in mid June.

The Sale will also feature for the first time in its history an 'Incentive Race' for graduates of the two-year-old session.

The Incentive Race, named the Southern Bonus Race, will be a three-year-old 1400 metre event held at Riccarton Park over next year's Christchurch Cup Carnival, and will carry a $50,000 bonus for the first eligible Sale graduate past the post.

New Zealand Bloodstock's Co-Managing Director Andrew Seabrook says the race is a good way to promote the Sale, encourage quality entries and a strong buying bench.

"We have been looking at different options to continue the development of the South Island Sale and we believe that this incentive race is a great way to encourage new, and reignite previous, buying interest come sale day.

"The Karaka Million and the Karaka 3YO Mile, both incentive races for graduates of the National Yearling Sales Series have been very successful and we are hoping the Southern Bonus Race can stimulate further interest in the South Island Sale."
