South Island Sale Promises Plenty With Bigger Catalogue And Top Sires Represented

The sale has grown slightly in numbers this year to a catalogue of 220 Lots to be offered in the stunning winter scenery of Christchurch on Friday 8th August. The South Island Sale has fashioned an impressive list of stakes winning graduates in recent times, with the headliner being HUSTLER (Al Akbar x Flush), winner of this season's Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas.
The 2 Year Olds will again provide the biggest session and main focus of the sale, with progeny of NZ's proven best sires and several top class shuttle sires represented, including Al Akbar, Cape Cross, Centaine, Danasinga, Danske, Dream Well, Felix the Cat, Generous, Gold Brose, Kaapstad, King of Kings, Marju, O'Reilly, Personal Escort, Pins, Shinko King, Stravinsky, Towkay, Volksraad, Woodman & Yamanin Vital to name a few.
This year's Broodmare session features mares by quality sires such as Barathea, Centaine, Crested Wave, Danasinga, Dehere, Honor Grades, Pompeii Court and Volksraad to name a few.
The 2003 South Island Sale will be held at the Canterbury Agricultural Park, Christchurch, on Friday 8th August, commencing 10am. This year visitors can take the opportunity to stay on in Christchurch and attend the Mercedes Racing Awards black tie event in town that night, straight after the sale. There is also action aplenty at the nearby Riccarton Park racecourse with the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National jumping carnival.
