Successful Conclusion to NZB Breeze-Ups

22 October 2013

The second and final day of the official Breeze Ups for New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs has successfully concluded at Te Rapa racecourse today, with a total 392 two-year-olds filmed breezing down the 200 metre home straight.

The track was upgraded overnight to a Good 3 surface with weather conditions staying fine for most of the day as rain threatened but never eventuated.

The average time for the Day 1 gallops was 10.85 seconds, with today’s average only a fraction quicker at 10.82 seconds.

Today saw over 186 Lots run down the straight with the final 200m of their work filmed and timed, with the times for both days now available.

Amongst a very strong selection of eye-catching performances this week, some of the biggest drafts of the Sale contributed to the host of highlights today.

The two fastest times of the second day came from the Westbury Stud pair of Lot 252 (Red Giant x Sweet Vibes), that ran in 10.00 seconds flat, and Lot 398 (Align x Danness) that recorded 10.01 seconds in the same heat. Prominent yearling vendor Westbury Stud is represented by a large draft of 23 two-year-olds as part of the stud's strategy to grow its presence at this Sale into the future.

Diamond Lodge, with 29 catalogued lots, produced the well-bred Lot 319, a colt by O’Reilly out of the stakes placed Aria, dam of multiple stakes performer Floria, and stablemate Lot 328 (Postponed x Ballyalla) to work comfortably to stop the clock at 10.32 seconds. Also from Diamond Lodge was Lot 21 (Nicconi x Golden Lasso) that galloped in impressive fashion on its own in a time of 10.06 seconds.

From Mana Park was Lot 155, an impressive colt by Exceed and Excel out of On Hallowed Ground, breezing well with stablemate Lot 351 (Sakhee’s Secret x Black Grace), to record 10.17 seconds and 10.19 seconds respectively. Mana Park has 31 lots catalogued at the Sale.

Another pair to breeze impressively was the duo from Beatson Stables of Lot 106 (Alamosa x Marcey’s Belt) and Lot 425 (Starcraft x Enchantress) with the latter submitting a time of 10.04 seconds and Lot 106 not far behind at 10.07 seconds.

Perennial Sale-topping vendors Lyndhurst Farm produced a Mastercraftsman colt, Lot 63 (x Kew), who logged a 10.49 second breeze as he worked nicely with stablemate Lot 209 (Written Tycoon x Shacklady) who recorded 10.48 seconds. The Farm will be represented by 21 two-year-olds in total.

Zabeel had his progeny on prominent display with Lot 146 (ex Mydanehillprincess) working over the 200 metres comfortably recording a 10.61 second time in conjunction with Lot 371 (Holy Roman Emperor x Centafit).

The fastest heat of the Breeze-Ups was the Heat 2 pairing from yesterday of Lot 29 (9.94 seconds) and Lot 218 (9.95 seconds) from Bradbury Park, with Day 1 highlights available here.
