Successor Scores $50,000 Mercedes Super Bonus

3 December 2003

Bahhare two year old Successor outclassed the field to win today's New Zealand Bloodstock - Mercedes 2YO Colts and Geldings (1100m) at the Avondale Jockey Club.

Successor (Bahhare x Betty Doolin) crossed the line 4 lengths ahead of Mucho (Danske x Heaps) and Sir Slick (Volksraad x Miss Opera) to take the win and the $50,000 Mercedes Super Bonus prize for his owner/trainer John Sargent, who trains the horse at his Matamata stable with the help of Karl Allpress.

Bred by Mr Chansig Kim of Palmerston North, Successor was purchased by John Sargent at the 2003 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Colts Sale for $21,000 from the draft of Rich Hill Stud.

The next race in the 2003-04 Mercedes Super Bonus Series is at the Wellington Racing Club this Saturday 6th December where the bonus for fillies has jackpotted to $50,000 after the $25,000 bonus was not struck at the Counties Racing Club last month.

Following next Saturday's $50,000 Fillies Jackpot Bonus is the $150,000 Mercedes Colts and Geldings Prelude at the Manawatu Racing Club on Saturday 20th December and the $150,000 Mercedes Fillies Prelude at the Auckland Racing Club on Boxing Day.
