Taatletail Continues Winning Streak In Saturday'S Gr.3 Highview Stakes

15 September 2003

The first race of the 2003-04 New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series took place on Saturday with the running of the Gr.3 Highview Stakes (1200m) at the Hawkes Bay Racing Club meeting at Otaki.

With a field of 15 smart fillies it was the Graeme Rogerson and Stephen Autridge trained Taatletail (Faltaat x Defensive Lady) who took the honours by 1 lengths from the Mark Walker trained Rapid Kay (Towkay x Racing Waters) with the Stephen and Trevor McKee trained filly Pay my Bail (Justice Prevails x Ebony Jane) a further length away in third.

On easy track conditions, Taatletail gave her owners Peter Glover, Paola Meo, Stephen Just, Brian Foster, Dean McLuckie and Graeme Rogerson the hat trick of wins they had been hoping for. Taatletail cleared away in the straight for her third win from only three starts having previously won once as a 2YO and once as a 3YO. Saturday's win has shown her to be a hot contender for the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year title.

Taatletail was bred by Macau based Ms Deborah Ho at Trelawney Stud in Cambridge.

After the running of the Highview Stakes the point's table for the Filly of the Year Series now stands as follows:
Taatletail 6
Rapid Kay 3
Pay My Bail 1.5

The next race in the series is the Gr.3 Indian Danehill Lowland Stakes at the Masterton Racing Club on Saturday 11th October.
