Te Rapa Start For Top Lot

6 May 2005

New Zealand Bloodstock 2004 sale topper, Darci Brahma (Danehill x Grand Echezeaux), lines up for the fourth time this weekend following two impressive wins and a second from his three starts to date.

The $1.1m purchase ran a courageous second at his most recent start in the Group 1 ARC Ford Ellerslie Sires' Produce Stakes and prior to that picked up some black type when winning the Listed Matamata RC Fairview Ford Slipper.

This weekend's race at Te Rapa, the Hinuera Lodge Juvenile 2YO 1200m, sees Darci Brahma carrying a high-weight of 58.5kgs and jumping from barrier one. The colt's main competition comes from two-year-old filly Spare The Detail (Sandtrap x Full Detail) who has finished in the money in four of her five starts.

It is planned that the Danehill entire, who was purchased by David Ellis and is now trained by Mark Walker, will travel to the Queensland Winter Carnival to contest the Group 1 QTC Sires' Produce and the Group 1 TJ Smith Handicap.

The colt was purchased from the premier session of the 2004 National Yearling Sales Series from the draft Peter and Philip Vela's Pencarrow Stud.

The Hinuera Lodge Juvenile is the second on the card on Saturday which is scheduled to jump at 12.02pm.
