How are horses transported by air?
Horses travel on cargo freighters (not passenger planes) in specially designed closed top air stalls that provide comfort and safety. Experienced grooms accompany shipments to monitor the horses and provide care during the flight whenever required.

Does my horse need to go into quarantine?
Some countries require pre-export quarantine. The length of stay depends on the importing country's regulations. We will organise quarantine bookings and oversee your horse's care throughout the process. Read the notes against each route here.

Do I need to organise any testing, permits or paperwork?
We will arrange any import/export requirements and paperwork on your behalf. Airfreight taken care of!

Can I export or import any breed of horse?
In most cases, yes. Breed restrictions are uncommon but import requirements vary between countries. We can advise whether your horse meets the destination country's requirements.

How much does it cost to export or import a horse?
Costs vary depending on the destination, quarantine requirements, testing, flights, ground transport, and government fees. We can provide a free non-obligation quote based on your horse and destination.

How do I book my horse on a flight?
Simply contact us with some details about your horse (name, age, breed, sex), where you are travelling from and to, and any preferred travel timeframes. You can use the form here or contact a member of the team below. We'll guide you through the entire process, provide a detailed export plan and answer any questions you have.

Can you arrange transport from my property?
Yes, we organise professional road transport from your property to the quarantine facility or airport with our partners at Majestic Horsefloats.

Do we ship horses to and from Australia?
Yes, we frequently ship horses to and from our Melbourne and Sydney ports in Australia on a weekly basis.

Can my broodmare travel in foal?
Yes mares in foal can travel however they must travel before 300 days after their last service date. e.g. Mares with a last service as 1 September need to travel prior to 27 June, or mares with a last date of service as 1 October need to travel prior to 27 July. Contact our team if you have any questions or with your mares last date of service and we can ensure your mare travels in a timely manner.

Is my horse insured during transport?
We recommend transit insurance with NZB Insurance for every export. We can discuss available insurance options and help you arrange appropriate cover.

Can my horse travel with another horse?
Yes. Horses are often transported with a compatible travelling companion when possible. Stall arrangements depend on the size of the horse, airline requirements, and the shipment schedule but generally fit 2-3 horses per stall.
