2018 Ready to Run Sale

At the 2018 Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs we've seen a strong buying bench around the complex. Check out what they had to say

At the end of Day One, Te Akau Racing's principal David Ellis was the leading buyer at the Ready to Run Sale. Among the six lots he secured, the highest price he paid was $440,000 for the Savabeel colt at Lot 137.

Another top-class colt came through the ring at Lot 77 and The Hong Kong Jockey Club outlaid $250,000 to secure him. The son of Charm Spirit was consigned by Prima Park. We caught up with Mark Richards following the purchase.

Lot 126, a colt by Dawn Approach, was secured by Mr Poon for $320,000 on Day One of NZB's Ready to Run Sale. Prepared by Diamond Lodge, he is out of an eight-time winning Darci Brahma mare.

Lot 180, a son of Champion sire Savabeel, was purchased for $375,000 on Day One of the 2018 Ready to Run Sale. Trent Busuttin purchased him on behalf of Cameron Cooke Bloodstock with the colt destined for the Busuttin Racing Stables.

We caught up with Stuart Hale who secured the striking Savabeel colt, Lot 84, for $500,000 from the draft of Ohukia Lodge on Day One of the 2018 Ready to Run Sale.

"He's got a stallion's pedigree there if he can match the performance," commented Shane McGrath of Aquis Farm on Lot 285, a colt by Hinchinbrook purchased on Day Two of the 2018 Ready to Run Sale.

After Lot 126 went through the ring for $320,000, it was quickly followed by the $500,000 Savabeel colt at Lot 127 with Mr Man the winning bidder at the 2018 Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs. Consigned by Ohukia Lodge, he is out of the O'Reilly mare Maxmara who is a full sister to stakes winner Salsa (NZ).
